With reference to my Confidential Despatch of

the 13th. ultimo and to previous correspondence on the subject of the note issue of the Government of the Kwangtung Province, I have the honour to transmit for your information the enclosed note of an interview which the Registrar-General had on the 9th. instant with Mr. Kong Kung Yan alias Kong Ha who has been sent from Peking to investigate the matter.

The condition disclosed by lir. Kong is even

worse than I have been able to describe it.

I shall do my best to assist bar. Kong with

practical suggestions for the redemption of these notes.
